Introduction
I’m sure you’ve seen people online claiming to make tidy sums of money creating faceless videos with AI for YouTube and beyond. So, I thought it was about time Money Making Tips Online gave it a go too.
I’ve always been told I’ve got a face for radio, so faceless videos are right up my street!
In the process, I’ll be documenting everything: the tools I use, the steps I take, the lessons learned, and all the pain points along the way. Hopefully, it will give you some genuinely useful tips you can follow to create your own AI-powered videos and start building a real online income. No scams. No hype. Just honest experiments, real results, and plenty of trial and error.
Where possible, I’ll include affiliate links for the software I use. If you fancy trying any of them out, please consider using my link as it helps me keep creating more fabulous (and hopefully useful) content.
So here’s the challenge. I’m creating my first ever faceless YouTube video using only AI tools.
No camera. No fancy studio. No editing background.
Just AI and a simple idea.
I love my tech, but not storytelling, and I’m new to this whole content creation malarkey. So, I set myself a challenge: could I make a faceless YouTube video using nothing but artificial intelligence… and actually get a few views?
So, let’s kick off the first video of this series with a quick and dirty way to make a faceless video where Ai does all the hard work for absolutely free, using Invideo Ai
🎯 Step 1: Pick a Niche and Video Idea
I already knew my niche: money-making tips and online income.
But to make this first video successful, I needed a specific idea that people were searching for.
Here’s the process I used:
- Opened YouTube and typed “how to make money with AI”.
- Filtered by “This Year” to find trending topics.
- Used vidIQ (free Chrome extension) to see keyword competition and volume.
✅ Chosen topic:
How to make faceless youtube videos with ai
It’s broad enough for search traffic, but narrow enough to make engaging visuals.
🤖 Step 2: Write the Script with ChatGPT
Next, I used ChatGPT (GPT-5) to write a YouTube-style script.
Here’s the prompt I used:
“Write a 3-minute YouTube script in an engaging, friendly tone for a video titled ‘How I Made My First Faceless YouTube Video Using AI)’. Include a short intro hook, clear transitions, and a motivating outro.”
💬 ChatGPT generated a full script in seconds.
Then I edited it manually; trimming repetition and adding small touches to sound more natural when spoken aloud.
💡 Tip: Always read your script out loud. AI text can sound robotic until you humanise it.
🎙️ Step 3: Create the Video with Invideo AI
For this video, I used the free version of Invideo Ai which generates the video & narrator for you, so you don’t have much control but its quick and easy and fun!
Here’s how:
- Press the use my script button under the chat prompt in Invideo AI and paste the script ChatGpt gave us and press Generate Video button.
- Invideo Ai can also generate the script from a concept, but I pasted in the one Chat Gpt created earlier.
- I chose duration of 2.5 mins, using stock images for platform on YouTube and then clicked Generate and waited for the magic to happen….
- Once its generated you can chat via the prompt and ask it to change style, voice, and use the editor to replace images and audio that the AI auto selected for us.
- When you are happy export as an MP3 file ready for upload to YouTube/
💰 Tip: The Free plan is fine when you are just getting started and for short videos; upgrade if you plan to post regularly and / or want to unlock premium features like better voices.
Note: There are loads of other AI video-creation tools out there, and we’ll be exploring plenty of them later in the series. For now though, we’re keeping things simple — going with the quickest, easiest method where AI does most of the heavy lifting. As you’ll see, if you want a bit more control over the final result… it usually means putting in a little extra work — or spending a little extra money.
🎨 Step 4: I replaced some of the random visuals
In the spirit of keeping things nice and simple this time around, I just used the “replace image” option in InVideo AI and grabbed a few stock clips. Not the best quality or engaging, but it was a quick and dirty way to get things moving!
💡 Tip: Keep clips short (3–5 seconds) and relevant. Avoid generic AI footage that looks random, it kills watch time. (Oops – will do better next time)
✂️ Step 5: I replaced the weird audio Ai had chosen.
I replaced the background track that InVideo AI had chosen (it honestly sounded like a marching band) with something that at least had “technology” in the title. Still not amazing, but hey ho, it works for now.
🧾 Step 6: Exporting and Importing to YouTube
At this stage I starting wondering how I added subscribe links in the video and stuff, so thought I had better head to YouTube studio and try and get my head around that.
Downloading for Invideo was easy, but on the free version you only get stock media and have to keep the Invideo Ai watermark, fair enough!
Once the video had downloaded to my PC, I opened YouTube studio and uploaded my video file.
🚀 Step 7: Optimise on YouTube
Before uploading, I crafted an SEO-optimised title and description. Of course I asked Chat Gpt for help with this.
When you upload to YouTube, you tube ask you for image thumbnails (I ask ChatGpt to create this too), you are also prompted to add a subscribe link at a specific frame in the video. Which I did 🙂
I then pressed Publish and you can see my very first initial creation below. Not my best piece of work but we all have to start somewhere!
💰 Step 8: Monetisation Plan
Even if your first video doesn’t go viral, it’s still valuable. Here’s how:
- Affiliate links — include them in your description for tools used (e.g. I have applied to the Invideo Ai affiliate program so will chuck a link in the description later once I get set up).
- Blog traffic — embed this video in your website article (just like this one!) for cross-channel SEO.
- Email list growth — link to your newsletter at the end of the video maybe, or add the link to your new creation on your next newsletter
- Share with other communities – post on social media and other communities you are a member of
💡 Over time, each new video compounds — bringing new viewers, subscribers, and potential income.
🧠 Step 9: Review, Publish, and Reflect
Once published, I now need to track the video performance using YouTube Studio Analytics:
- Click-through rate (CTR)
- Average view duration
- Retention at 30 seconds
💡 If CTR is low → test new thumbnail.
💡 If retention drops early → tighten your intro.
Your first video is your baseline — learn from it, improve, and repeat.
✅ Final Thoughts
Creating this first faceless AI video taught me one simple truth:
AI doesn’t replace creativity, it accelerates it, but its also far from perfect not on the free package anyway. That said, this has been a great exercise to get going and start learning, so bring on the next episode.
If you’ve been putting off starting a YouTube channel because you hate being on camera, this is your sign.
You already have the tools. You just need to take the first step
